You question if you are the problem or if you’re at fault for the issues in your life or what happened to you. You have been considering therapy but feel like other people have it worse than you do even though you are suffering. From the moment you wake, your thoughts are racing, your body is on high alert, and through much of the day you’re plagued with flashes of intrusive memories or an unexplainable physical tension you just can't shake. The constant overwhelm causes you to struggle in every area of your life, and it feels like peace is impossible. There’s a voice in the back of your head telling you to “feel your feelings” but you don’t know how to do that without spiraling or feeling entirely disconnected from your physical self. On top of your inner chaos, the people in your life walk all over you without a care. You have been hearing a lot of talk of “setting boundaries,” but are afraid of pushing people away. You feel consumed by shame and often think to yourself, “Why can’t I just figure this out?” You want to figure things out, you want to feel better, and you want to feel safe in your own skin, but you’re unsure of where to start.

I know this all sounds confusing, scary, and overwhelming—to have to face yourself. The truth is, you’ve made it this far, and although it may feel scary to look inward, beyond the shadows is a light of strength within you. When we’ve been suffering alone, it helps to have a healing space that is safe enough to help you explore yourself. Together, we will use the brain and the body to heal from the past and move into the present. Because trauma and chronic stress are held in the nervous system, talk therapy alone isn't always enough. Using Somatic Therapy and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, we will gently bridge the gap between your physical sensations and your emotional experiences. We will learn to "listen" to your body's cues—how your posture shifts, where tension lives, and how your breathing changes—to process unresolved pain from the bottom up, without needing to endlessly retell difficult stories.

I am here to meet you where you are and walk with you on your healing journey because you are the expert of your experiences and your own body. Therapy is a collaborative space, and you have choice and control over what you want to explore and at what pace, ensuring your nervous system stays regulated and you never feel pushed too far. This doesn’t mean that therapy won’t be hard or uncomfortable at times (as this is where the growth happens), but I will be there every step of the way, supporting, guiding, and teaching you grounding and somatic tools so you can become your own healer at the end of our journey together. I include the whole person in the therapy practice: who they are, how they identify, where they come from, how they grew up, the physical wisdom they carry, and all parts that make them who they are, and include that when focusing on what a client wants to work on in sessions.

Angelina Brown, LMSW-Clinical, CCTP, (she/her) received her Clinical Social Work degree from Wayne State University and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. She has a background in advocacy and crisis intervention work with survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual abuse in various settings, including community, college campuses, and active duty military. Her clinical background includes working with PTSD, complex PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, and LGBTQ+ identities. Angelina is certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Flash Technique. She uses a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, somatic therapy, parts work, and approaches rooted in anti-oppression and liberation frameworks. Angelina uses an empowerment framework within a holistic approach to the therapeutic process. When Angelina is not working with clients, you can find her on long walks with her dog, Max, starting a new knitting project, or attempting to make her way through her giant TBR stack of books.
